Districts may participate in Georgia's Leadership Institute for School Improvement
Leadership Development Programs through
several paths. These include:
Base Camp and Leadership Summit Cohort Process.
Base Camp and Leadership
Summit Cohort Process is the cornerstone of GLISI's
leadership development experience. These intensive
leader training and working sessions launch a three-year
engagement of a school district with GLISI that is
designed to support district-wide improvement in student
achievement, school culture, and organizational
effectiveness.
Rising Stars
Collaboratives™.
Rising Stars Collaboratives™
prepare teachers for school leadership roles and support
new and developing leaders during transition to the
principalship. Rising Stars Collaboratives™
connect school districts with similar needs within
Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) to a
university leadership preparation program. This
collaboration allows the district to have input into the
coursework of developing leaders to ensure it is
relevant to the real work the leader must perform. For
more information on starting or joining a Rising Stars
Collaborative™ in your region,
contact JoAnn Brown, Program Manager, at
joann.brown@galeaders.org.
Leadership
Preparation Performance Coaching (LPPC).
The Leadership Preparation Performance Coaching (LPPC)
program offers districts an opportunity to develop their
own cadre of local performance coaches to work with
aspiring and developing leaders to ensure they are
proficient in the skills needed to improve and sustain
performance and by providing effective internship and
induction experiences with opportunities to practice
real work in real time. Coaches are trained to give
feedback against clear criteria to support leader
development. For more information on the LPPC program,
contact Georgia Wilson, Program Manager, at
georgia.wilson@galeaders.org.
GLISI
Performance-based Modules.
GLISI’s extensive library
of Performance-based Modules (PBMs) are designed to help
Georgia districts, schools, and universities design
leader development and performance improvement programs
for teachers who are in preparation for leadership and
incumbent leaders during induction and transition. PBMs
are designed to guide work on the job, addressing topics
that are critical in school leadership. The tasks in the
PBMs are job-embedded and are practiced in real time, in
real schools, aligned with real work.
Developing High-performing Leaders At All Levels
(DHPLAAL). GLISI's newest leadership
development program, DHPLAAL has quickly become a
valuable tool to manage and
improve the performance of existing leaders and to
develop new leaders. Designed for district teams that
include the superintendent, district leaders who are
responsible for leadership development or principal
performance, principals who are responsible for
developing assistant principals and teacher leaders, and
school board members who are committed to supporting
capacity building, DHPLAAL can help districts develop a
sustainable legacy of leadership.
Communities of Learning and Achievement
(COLAs).
GLISI districts come
together to share their best practices and network with each other and
with higher education partners at GLISI COLA meetings. COLA
members who share similar learning needs and organizational goals are
connected to each other, consultants, and others with expertise who can assist them
in improving their district's performance and share that learning across
the state. Feedback from meetings define the issues and agendas for
future meetings. Some recent topics include:
