Information and Documents for District Leaders

How do districts get started?
To support your Leadership Performance Coaches-in-Training, you will need to do these things:

  1. Prior to training, select ONE performer that the Performance Coach will coach. This selected performer will serve as the "case study" for the Performance Coach during training.
  2. Plan a district orientation on the leadership performance and supply initiative in the district. This orientation should be conducted by a senior leader at the district level and held for district leaders and principals prior to the LPPC training. Contact your GLISI-assigned Performance Consultant to get the PowerPoint presentation for the orientation.
  3. Before the first day of training, pay the GLISI per-candidate fee to cover the cost of training resources. Contact Tina Wolfe at tina.wolfe@glisi.org for more information on submitting the payment.
  4. Support the LPPC candidate in arranging an orientation on the coaching process between Session 1 and Session 2 of the training. This orientation is intended only for the Performer and his/her Sponsor (the person in the supervisory position).
  5. Download and complete a set of the blank Performer Profile documents (blank and sample copies are shown to the right under "Resources"). The Performance Coach will use information provided in the Performer Profile to complete assignments during and after training sessions. If you have difficulties downloading the documents, contact Tina Wolfe at tina.wolfe@glisi.org.

What is in the Performer Profile?
The Performer Profile is a set of five documents that our study and experience have revealed as representing best practices. These documents (linked on the right) include:

  • Performer Profile Cover Page:
A list of the documents in the Performer Profile packet and instructions on how to use them.

  • District Factors Analysis (DFA) form:
This assessment provides information regarding the improvement needs and focuses of the district, the implications for leader development and performance, and an analysis of the factors that could potentially impact the Performer’s ability to successfully reach proficiency in the assigned Priority Performances™.

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU):
A statement of understanding that is signed by multiple parties – including the District Representative, Sponsor, Performer, and University Representative – to indicate their commitment to the coaching process. If the district is participating in a “collaborative” with its RESA, a university leadership preparation program, or other entities, representatives of those organizations will also sign a commitment of support of the coaching process. (Note: the document linked at right is normally used in a Rising Stars Collaborative, but it can be revised to include your own information.)

  • Performer Factors Analysis (PFA) form:
This document provides the Performance Coach information regarding the strengths of the Performer, areas for growth, and the leadership skills and knowledge the district expects. A district leader or a Sponsor will need to complete this form.

  • Performer Path Plan™ (PPP):
This document is completed by the Performance Coach after s/he has received and analyzed information on the Performer and the assigned Priority Performances™. The Plan may need updating as the Performer practices the Priority Performances™ and more information is collected regarding the Performer’s level of proficiency.

  • Performer Assessments Checklist:
The Performance Coach should also be provided a checklist indicating the leadership profiles and/or assessments the identified performer has completed, such as GLISI's 8 Roles of School Leaders Assessments (School-level and District-level assessments are shown on the right under "More Resources"). The Performance coach might use the results of the profiles and assessments in the development of the Performer Path Plan.

  • Can we alter or adapt these forms to meet our needs?
    Yes.

What do I do if I need help?
The Performance Consultant assigned to your district or RESA is available, if needed, to provide online or over-the-phone coaching on how to complete the forms. Contact Tina Wolfe at tina.wolfe@glisi.org to get contact information for your Performance Consultant.

For additional information on the Leadership Preparation Performance Coaching (LPPC) Program, contact Georgia Wilson at georgia.wilson@glisi.org.

We encourage you to begin establishing partnerships with RESAs, a university, and other appropriate agencies to develop your district's future leaders. All educational leadership preparation programs must:

  • Be performance-based
  • Reflect the 8 Roles of School Leaders™
  • Reflect a partnership with a school district
