RESULTS

Our Targeted Results: Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI) is solely focused on improving key education leadership in Georgia. Our targeted impact is improved statewide capacity to increase leader performance and supply amid changes in the leadership workforce and working conditions.

GLISI

Our Stewardship: Stewardship can be defined as "being accountable for the increase in value of something held in trust"
(Eric Mowris – Selling Solutions, Inc.). The following documents provide an outline of GLISI’s stewardship strategies:

GLISI’s Systemic Impacts One-pager (PDF). A one-page summary of GLISI’s work and its impact.

Service Levels (Map of Districts Served) (PDF) This state map indicates the number and type of GLISI events districts have participated in.

GLISI Stewardship Report, 2009 (PDF). Stewardship Reports demonstrate return on state and external investments in our work by showing the unique value we added  to organizations we served and how those  organizations leveraged our support to  achieve  targeted local outcomes and results, such as improved graduation rates. Our Evaluation and Accountability Methods

GLISI is committed to good stewardship of the State and private funding entrusted to us, and we have always supported independent, integrated evaluation of our systemic improvement efforts. We regularly report our results and impacts to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget and our private funding partners. GLISI models performance-based practices in our training, consulting services, and resource development.  We evaluate our work based on impact and results.

What’s Working? Success Cases in Action

GLISI seeks to understand the impact of our work on the leaders we serve and their schools and school systems. Since education leaders in Georgia are engaged in multiple improvement interventions, GLISI has adopted a proven  process – the Success Case Method – for finding out what’s working, what barriers are preventing those we serve from implementing solutions effectively, and the impact our work is making locally.

Using principles articulated by Dr. Robert O. Brinkerhoff in his book, The Success Case Method, GLISI is conducting analysis of outcomes with evidence that is documentable and verifiable. GLISI has engaged the University of Georgia in using this methodology to capture and document our results at the local level. Using the Success Case Methodology allows us to find what works and how it can be replicated and shared.

GLISI has also chosen to highlight some of these district stories in a booklet to show our gratitude toward those doing the GLISI work.  In addition, the book is a great way to celebrate GLISI and the work of Georgia's districts and leaders through pictures, stories, and true impact.  Below are links to the booklets from 2008-2009 and this year's newest 2009-2010 highlighting APS, Baldwin, Candler, Clay, Clayton, and Mitchell School Districts.

Below are GLISI’s Success Cases:

GLISI contracts the University of Georgia to conduct two meta-analyses on GLISI programs and initiatives:

  • Rising Stars Collaborative Program:  a meta-analysis of Rising Stars site visits to shed light on the essential elements necessary for a successful implementation of the program.  To read the executive summary, click here.
  • Engagement for Success:  The GLISI Impact Story:  a meta-analysis of 15 Success Cases developed by GLISI to report on the impact GLISI is making across the state as well as data to inform GLISI's continuous improvement process.  To read the executive summary, click here
