Rising Stars Impact Statements

The purpose of the Rising Stars Impact Statement is to provide a vehicle for Rising Stars performers to share their action research projects with an authentic audience of leaders interested in improving schools.  Action research is a process of collecting data about an ongoing system with the purpose of improving practices in teaching and learning.

School leaders will make better decisions and implement more effective practices if they conduct research as part of their decision-making process and use results of such research as a guide to selection or modification of their practice.

The Rising Stars Collaboratives™ performers must adhere to the following:
  • The innovation chosen for study must concern the teaching/learning process
  • The innovation must be within the candidate's scope of influence
  • The candidate must lead a group of professionals who work together to investigate the issue

Typically, Rising Stars performers share the results of their action research during their last class before an invited audience of their superintendent, principals, and all others who have participated in their leadership development through the Rising Stars Collaborative™.  Performers are invited to post their Impact Statements here on the Rising Stars Web site.  Selected performers are invited to share their learning at GLISI’s yearly Display of Excellence.
